Agreed. I was disgusted at Rand Paul’s vote for Hagel, but I won’t hang him for that alone. These are articulate people with good ideas. What we should do is engage them, and bring them around to our side on these issues. Come on, conservatives. If you can’t win over people who are already mostly conservative, what chance do you have of winning over most of America? I could change Carson’s mind about this in twenty minutes tops.

Coalition politics can be a rough game. I'd never say we should overlook the gross stupidities of the Fiscal Cons by any means, but as long as they stay in their realm, and out of the broader more numerous Traditionalist issues (guns, birth, death, life, freedom, religion, etc.) they're better off with us than over there with the Democrats or on the fringe.

Romney made a really serious error by proposing that he was good enough to be President but he couldn't keep his mouth shut about putting gays in charge of the Boy Scouts, and gay marriage, and several other bits of clap trap and nonsense.

We should never put someone like that at the top of our candidates' lists again ~ that was beyond gross stupidity ~ it was terminal ~ and took down 12 Senate candidates with it!
