Congresswoman Maxine Waters Mocked for Claiming Sequester Will Cost 170 Million Jobs

Rep. Maxine Waters of California was roundly mocked and even became a trending topic on Twitter on Thursday after a video of her claiming erroneously that the automatic budget sequester, which becomes effective tonight, will cost America 170 million jobs.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, America currently has fewer than 135 million working people. Reporting information that allegedly came from the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke, Congresswoman Waters warned ominously of the catastrophic number of job losses that would hit America once the budget sequester becomes law.

"We don't need to be having something like sequestration that's going to cause these jobs losses, over 170 million jobs that could be lost – and so he (Bernanke) made it very clear he's not opposed to cuts but cuts must be done over a long period of time and in a very planned way rather than this blunt cutting that will be done by sequestration," said Congresswoman Waters, who is also the Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Committee, in the video.

Eric Orner, deputy communications director of the Financial Services Committee, quickly told the National Review On-Line that the statement on the jobs was made in error once the video began making the rounds.

"I just noticed a post by National Review On-Line contributor Charles C.W. Cooke about House Financial Services Committee Ranking Member Water's obvious slip of the tongue (she accidentally said 170 million when she meant 170 thousand) when referring to the number of jobs that may be lost as a result of sequestration," said Orner.

Regarding the apologist for the booger-eating-moron Waters, who said it was a "slip of the tongue" who said 170 million but meant 170 thousand...

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the normal WEEKLY new unemployment claims is about 340,000, double the purported 170 thousand Waters supposedly meant.

The simple fact is it wasn't a mistake. It's just that a) she's an idiot, b) she thought she'd get away with it, c) she wanted to try to scare the "low information voters" who would never be aware of the actual numbers.

But the one thing she didn't count on was that her blathering was SO outrageous that the ministry of propaganda that normally carries her water and hides her moronic bleatings, simply couldn't ignore this, or control it once it got onto the social networks.

Well, she is stupid. That’s a given. But still clever enough not to be locked up for the overt insider corruption she and her “banker” got away with. Like many corrupt Black Caucus pols, her complexion is her protection.

I listened to her speach 3 times, and it sounded to me she said 117 million. I suppose I am wrong usually that is the way of it. But that number of 117 million still sounds high to me.

This goes well with the other congresscritter that claimed if we put Marines on an island we would tip it over.

Or Clinton's surgeon general gal who asserted we needed to make buckets that couldn't hold water and would tip over. Same gal who said we need safer guns and safer bullets.

Thanks! It’s time TAXPAYERS started getting something for their dollars, instead of the deadbeats collecting everything.
