But back to Gandhi. When I began seminary, I had been a practicing Wiccan priestess for a number of years. Indeed, at the time I was the North Carolina director of WARD, Witches Against Religious Discrimination. However, my involvement as a UU in the Charlotte congregation had taken me back to my own commitment to appreciating, affirming, and supporting religious diversity and exploration; as well as my calling to serve a diverse, rather than specific, community of spiritual seekers.

There's more to the story, but for the moment, I'll let it rest on a simple fact: I didn't become a UU Hindu, and I chose Islam as the non-Christian religion I would specialize in.
