A good contrast, where the people who’s freedoms were being taken by the government brutally, but were able to fight back is the Cristeros War in Mexico. An interesting study.
A telling sidenote is that the American KKK (Democrats) raised money to give to the Mexican Government to assist them in their quest to eliminate Catholics.
