I saw and EBT user buying 4lbs of $8.99/lb shrimp at the grocery tonight. Peeves the hell out me.
Last year I stopped by Wal Mart to pick up some stuff on the way home from work. It was Sunday at just before midnight and I think it was the day the EBT cards reset at midnight.
There was a non english speaking hispanic family there with a woman and man in their 40’s, a girl in her late teens or early 20’s and about three young children.
The two adults and the older girl each had a register of their own completely filled up with groceries, snack food, soft drinks, clothing, toys and arts and crafts supplies and were hanging around waiting.
Just after midnight , the man reaches into his front shirt pocket and pulls out about 6 of our states distinctly shaped EBT cards, sorts through and carefully looks at each one of them. After a moment of careful deliberation, the man then proceeds to select three of the EBT cards out the stack.
He hands one to the woman, one to the younger girl and takes one for himself and all three proceeds to check out their respective piles of goods on each of their registers and loaded the bagged goods into about 5 maxed shopping carts and the whole group heads for the parking lot.
It only took me a minute to check out my gallon of milk and dozen eggs so I followed directly behind them.
They are parked in a parking space just opposite to the parking space I was parked in so I got a very good look at their vehicle.
They were driving an optioned out late 1-2 year old top of the line, optioned out red Chevy Suburban SUV with expensive alloy rims and high end aftermarket off road type tires, an aftermarket performance exhaust system and and a really nice biscuit colored leather interior.
The license plate on the SUV showed that it was from Sonora, Mexico.
In our state, each family regardless of the number of people and the number of programs the are one, are issued only ONE EBT card per family.
These people had at least 6 and actually used 3 of them to purchase what I would estimate to be well over $1000 and perhaps closer to 2,000 dollars worth of items between the three of them.
The problem that we have is that it is really easy to create a false identity through the illegal alien network and then go on welfare multiple times under multiple fake identities.
Our social service workers, as a matter of policy, provide EBT cards to people who are illegal and have forged ID documents.
The problem is there is no way to track how many times these people have signed up under multiple assumed identities.
Our own citizens take advantage of the same ready access to fake IDs to get benefits under multiple fake Ids as well.
It is killing the state of California’s welfare system.
Many illegals have multiple identities and there was a thread yesterday - I think- about how its racist (or something) to ban them from committing identity fraud or something.
