Is there any way of identifying where a pre-paid phone was purchased?
There are dozens of them floating around the net, lifted from his real profile just after this happened. I’ve seen more than one profile with those same pictures on them.
Here’s a whole bunch of them:

Imagine a guy on I-90 headed west onI-90 near Rockford IL using the phone and then heading NE using 39 and 43, dumping the phone in Elkorn, and then heading south to Texas.
This is stuff that the rest of us imagine that a person could do but nobody really does this stuff except in movies. I don’t know how far ahead he’s thought this, but I suspect that, unlike the anti-hero’s in movies, he’ll make a huge slip up.
Meanwhile, he’s already shown he’s better at hiding than the lead character in the movie “Fargo”.
Sorry, I just haven’t had the time to follow this as closely as some of you. So he drove his truck to a deep snow wilderness and set it on fire? Any possibility he had a friend drive it there and burn it while he headed for other parts unknown? Or what’s the possibility he’s been lying dead in a snow drift for days after killing himself?? Just wondering.
Good one Mutt! Should be cited every time his name comes up!
You’re right el, but seems to me if he was alive there would have been sightings by now unless he has friends or family hiding him. Don’t you think he probably shot himself a few days ago?
The burning truck just screams ‘misdirection’. Why burn it, other than to deliberately attract attention?
He looks just like my former sonIL.
(Only, he’s a wimp so it couldn’t be him)
Dorner was trained well, and he is not stupid just insane. He could be anywhere or dead.
We may never know.
Personally, I think he will resurface, and start again, then disappear, then resurface - he is just toying with the law.
If he turns off his GPS position, and then leaves his phone in a hard off state, they can only tell which cell received the signal. It would still be useful to know if he is still in the mountains, though he might also have an accomplice to post the pictures. That could even be done through a computer at a public location.
I thought the same until I heard that the truck had a broken axle. I believe that it would be quite unlikely that he would have sufficient background to know how to fracture the axle in a Nissan truck at will.
It seems quite likely to me that this was inadvertent and that he is not where he planned to be. Why else would he burn two guns with the truck, and leave some cold weather gear behind? To me that would only happen if he had to leave stuff that he couldn't carry with him.
Thanks- I hadn’t heard. Still- why burn it- unless to attract attention to where he isn’t? It’s not like they’re going to get any evidence out of the truck that they don’t already know. If he’d just left it on the side of the road, and walked off without burning it, it would have bought him more time to flee.
There’s no way Obama’s going to allow this guy to be the first drone target in the US. The “optics” wouldn’t be right. That honor will be reserved for some “bitter old white man”.
Is there an indication that the fire was mechanical in origin and not the result of deliberate burning?
I thought this country was past all the racial garbage.
LOL.... nope, now they REALLY be in yo face, MoFo.
You and one other have raised the possibility of friends, relatives, or accomplices assisting Dorner.
Up til now, he has been depicted as a lone wolf. With help he could still be very much alive.
I see no evidence that he’s posted anything at all recently. I think the article is BS.
If he's smart, he used an overseas proxy server to connect to facebook. More likely, a string of them. And used some coffee shop's free WiFi connection while parked in back of the place. Good luck tracking him.
I would add that he’s LAPD and his Navy job was commanding a security unit. I’m going to guess he knows how the game is played with respect to tracking communications, and is having fun with the rest of the LAPD.
