Does that sound like a COVER UP to you???? Tell the chairman of the Board of 2nd Mile??? Report to DHS??? Where in those words do you find a coverup???
And where in there do you find the words "Paterno"????
That is evidence that their intent was to pass it on to those who should have done something -- the 2nd Mile and DHS -- but didn't.
So supposedly after talking to Paterno, the plan is changed to what??? talking to Sandusky first — then going to 2nd Mile and then going to DHS. All they did was to add another step and include Sandusky in getting some help.
Where in that is the Coverup??? Go to Sandusky, then go to 2nd Mile, and then go to DHS. Show me the coverup in that plan.
And Freeh even admits that 2nd Mile was notified but they did nothing about it. And by law 2nd Mile was required to notify DHS — not Curley, Schultz, Spanier, or Penn State or the man in the moon. Once 2nd Mile was notified, they were compelled by law to call DHS — and we have no evidence that they didn’t — which raises a big question about the coverup at the DHS.
This proves that the NCAA didn’t even read the Freeh Report and neither did Louie and the Penn State Board and most of the idiots at ESPN and on this board commenting on it.
I’m shocked that there are people on Free Republic who continue to defend pedophiles and those who cover for them.
Sad & embarrassing.
I’m sad that there are people on Free Republic who continue to falsely accuse people of defending pedophiles because they step forward to defend those who have been falsely accused.
What happened to the presumption of innocence??? What happened to a fair trial??? How do you declare a man guilty if you have no evidence???
They’ve been shown evidence that after the 2nd known incident, Spanier and Curley set about an action plan.
After discussing with Paterno, they decide AGAINST the action plan. Primarily, contacting an agency that will report this to the authorities for legal action.
Paterno was a huge leader on that Campus. He had incredible influence. After talking with him, they decide to take a “more humane” approach.
You will note, as the report does, that at no time do they make any effort to contact the parents of the VICTIMS.
Humane my azz.
They should all do time in prison. Each one of them, was complicit in covering up for a pedophile. It could have been stopped, but went on for years.
WE ARE
PENN STATE
You will note, as the report fails to do, that had they done so they would have been breaking the law.
And you will further note, as the report fails to mention, that 2nd Mile broke the law when they failed to notify DHS themselves.
And you will further note that the jury found that this incident in question was not child molestation and acquitted Sandusky of it.
So what were you talking about again????
Excellent arguments for Joe ping.....
But first, yes, the only change really would have been not to notify DPW if Sandusky agreed to voluntary treatment. He acts as if this is a huge thing. Problem is, that it's not. DPW is not a law enforcement department; they had already passed on one incident as not warranting their intervention. The case load and resources available to child care in the PA Welfare Department are such that they really don't often intervene in other than clear and present danger situations. And as much as McQuery's story sounds like that now, with 20-20 hindsight, it's not clear to me that McQuery's statement would have conveyed that kind of urgency if he told DPW what he now admits he told Paterno.
And this brings me to your second implied point. How does The Second Mile get off the hook either legally or in the mind of so many in the court of public opinion? Unlike PSU, The Second Mile was aware of all of these goings on (and maybe more; we'll never know), they had the most exposure, the most liability and they did nothing despite the fact that Sandusky was a founder and flagship fund-raiser. But all the vitriol is reserved for Penn State in general, and Joe Paterno in particular.
I understand why the lawyers do this. The Second Mile has no money. Penn State does. I just don't understand why this is true of people in the general public who have supposedly followed the case...
I wonder if this had anything to do with the pass the Second Mile got in the Freeh Report:
Bombshell: MBNA bank while Freeh was co-chair and general counsel was major corporate sponsor of Jerry Sandusky and Second Mile.

‘Im shocked that there are people on Free Republic who continue to defend pedophiles and those who cover for them.

Defending pedophiles?
Who other than Sandusky has been shown to be a pedophile?
Please come forward with your proof.
You people are in complete denial.
Sandusky abused multiple children and will rot in jail.
The PSU upper Admin, accepted the fate of every child that Sandusky abused, after the first notification, and their subsequent refusal to notify the proper authorities.
And so did the Head Football Coach at Penn State.
In fact Paterno is more responsible, because of his influence with the PSU Admin. After discussing with Paterno, they decide not to contact the authorities.
There is a reason they took his statue down. All of his integrity, morals, and character modeling with PS football, was just that. Modeling without the action.
When it came down to it, PennState and Paterno were AWOL in protecting children. These kids were sodomized and raped right on PSU football facilities.
Live with that stain and your weak attempts to do your best Bill Clinton imitation of twisting the truth.
That's an outright lie and you know it.
Sorry, let me correct that.
These kids were fondled, sodomized and raped, right on the PSU football facilities.
