Connecticut Against Gun Violence Offers Tough Legislative Agenda (Confiscation, taxes..)
The Litchfield County Times ^ | January 22, 2013 | Mary E. O’Leary

FAIRFIELD — Connecticut Against Gun Violence has proposed a tough legislative agenda that would expand the definition of an assault weapon and ban them from the state, including all such existing firearms.

CAGV also in its proposal would not grandfather in all large capacity magazines of more than seven rounds that, along with the assault weapons, would have to be destroyed, turned over to police or taken out of Connecticut.

New York just adopted a law that reduces the largest capacity magazine from 10 bullets to seven bullets.

Connecticut Against Gun Violence is a nonprofit formed in 1993 to advocate for legislation to enhance gun safety.

Ron Pinciaro, executive director of CAGV, said his organization wants expanded permitting and registration of weapons, as well as background checks on all firearms, including those sold privately and at gun shows.

“This comprehensive package of common sense measures is the most ambitious proposal in our state’s history,” he said in a statement.

The proposals are in response to the murder of 20 first-graders and six staff members at the Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14 by lone gunman, Adam Lanza, 20, who sprayed his victims with between 3 and 11 bullets from a Bushmaster AR-15 semiautomatic rifle owned by his mother, whom he killed before blasting his way into the school...

North Eastern states suck. I am grateful every day that I live in the South.

“Gun Control!” Yet another excuse for the commie, piggy politicians to RAISE TAXES. That’s what this is all about! Raising taxes and screwing over the gun owners. These ‘RAT politicians could care less about those kids at Sandy Hook. They are just another tool used by the ‘RATS to steal from Americans.

They are having a rally at the state Capitol Valentine’s day. let me guess, the MSM will call a few dozen “hundreds” but when a pro-gun rally occurs, thousands will become a few hundred.

In 2007, two men broke into the home of the Petit family in Cheshire, Conn. They severely beat the father, raped his wife and two daughters, then strangled the wife and set the house on fire, leaving the children, who had been tied to a bed, to burn to death.

In Texas, Arizona, or some other state without such strict gun laws, the criminals might have thought twice about pulling off a home invasion, since the inhabitants of the home would have been more likely to be armed. And if they had gone ahead and done it, they would have been shot.

Did you know that the American Revolution began (in Massachusetts of all places!) when the British tried to take the Colonists guns?

We’ve come a very long way. :)

Connecticut is a hellhole. I presently live in Illinois, which is a hellhole, as well; but it is not as bad here as in the northeast.

In any event my wife and I will be moving back to Dixie this year, or, at the outside, three years. Preferably this year, though.

And those animals are still on death row, well past their scheduled execution.

So 7 is now “high capacity”?

And they proclaim themselves the “Constitution State”

What a joke.

Gov. Malloy repealed the death penalty in CT after the horror of the Petit case subsided and the trials were over, despite strong support for the death penalty in CT. While it was for future cases, I’m confident they will never be executed thanks to the Malloy.

including those sold privately and at gun shows.

Aye, there's the rub. It always has been the wet dream of liberals to close this "loophole".

Funny thing. I notice "loopholes" only appear in laws which block the liberal agenda.

Prompted a letter to the local Ct paper. Not that it will do any good.

Dear Editor,

In the aftermath of the Sandy Hook tragedy where a mentally disturbed person, inflamed by Hollywood’s violent porn, illegally acquired fire arms and committed an atrocity, anti gun groups are exploiting the emotional pain to violate the Second Amendment constitutional rights of innocent citizens.

The most radical proposal comes from an outfit called Connecticut Against Gun Violence which advocates that “assault weapons, would have to be destroyed, turned over to police or taken out of Connecticut” along with other punitive measures that would not have prevented Sandy Hook. The ring leader, Ron Pinciaro, executive director of CAGV. incorrectly sites the Supreme Court case Heller vs DC, in which DC’s hand gun regulations were overturned as too restrictive, as justification for turning thousands of legal gun owners into criminals.

Gun control advocates peddle the delusion that confiscating guns will make society safer when the fact is that gun ownership reduces crime. The slogan: “When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns” is truer today than ever. Not to mention, the framers of the constitution saw the need for an armed citizenry to offset the tyrannical power of the state. Confiscation of property is a tyrannical act. After guns, what’s next?

Mental illness and evil are responsible for gun violence. Liberals should get back to us when they have a plan to combat the true root cause of Sandy Hook.

People who value individual freedom and Second Amendment rights have every reason to despair while living in blue state Ct. The Democrat party has elected itself to power by buying a permanent majority with the income tax and is now poised to trample our constitutional rights by confiscating private property. Ct is in a death spiral and has reached the black hole state of hopelessness.

There is no future for freedom loving people in Ct. To paraphrase Horace Greeley, go south young man, go south.
