Believe me, that's on their agenda for the future. Can't risk some crazy right-wing patriot using a dangerous weapon like a car to run down progressive politicians - plus people with cars can move out of California and take their assets with them before they can be fairly taxed for the good of all. :)

There were 200 deaths on the NYC subway last year (or 2011), we better just command people to live in their 200 square foot box and the government will send a delivery drone to bring us soylent green. You can pay them by riding an exercise bike to produce clean energy!

Public transportation is much safer.

My brother worked a temp job where he had access to the drug test results of our Unionized bus drivers and light rail operators. Let's just say, I wouldn't be so sure about that.
