This could be solve in less than a year. Congress tells every department of the government that every your you cannot pass an audit using generally accepted practices your budget will be cut 20%.

The fact that they don’t is proof that Congress is irreparably corrupt.

That would mean they should cut the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, the Agency for International Development, and the Railroad Retirement Board (page 5).

Also, the following related entities are excluded entirely from the audit: American International Group (AIG), Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Including the Federal Reserve Banks), Citigroup, Federal Home Loan Banks,
Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac), Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae), Thrift Savings Fund , The Financing Corporation, GMAC Financial (Ally Financial), National Railroad Passenger Corporation (does business as Amtrak), Public-Private Investment Funds, Resolution Funding Corporation, and the Student Loan Marketing Association (page 217).
