Since you asked, I’m not happy with “proceeds forward,” “undershepherd,” and “these are truly talking irreconcilable viewpoints here.”
I stopped reading there. So will most undershirts. However, your first line is potent and worthy to stand by itself:
“When do you intend to declare where you stand on this gun grab issue?”
Not happy with it? Seems ok to me.
I agree with HomeAtLast. Out of respect for your pastor’s time, give him something brief and to the point. That first question was perfect (when do you intend to declare...). Also understand that the primary responsibility of a pastor is to exposit the Word of God for God’s people, not to speak out on every political issue that comes up.
That said, I do believe it is also the responsibility of the Church to speak out against evil and wickedness in the world, including the government. A government moving toward tyranny is a growing evil, so it needs to be identified as such by the Church, no differently than abortion. The purpose of civil government is “to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good” 1Pet 2:14. This is also consistent with Rom 13:4, which was cited above. When this gets reversed, it is something God hates (”Woe to those who call evil good and good evil” Isa 5:20) and the Church needs to speak out against it.
