During the Civil War the Union postmasters in post offices in Southern states stayed on the job. Jeff Davis even paid them, but in Confederate money.

At the end of the war they were still all on the job. Congress paid them their missed Union pay.

So, whose side were they on?

If I’m not mistaken......we Southerners had to pay “Duh Union” back all money incurred for fighting the “Civil Wawah”.
