Theoretically, yes.
This is not my main problem with the birther claim, but it's a huge problem, nevertheless. It requires me to denounce as traitors a huge list of people I know are not traitors. Rick Santorum, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Ann Coulter, not to mention hundreds of fellow Freepers, all become dead to me. I don't agree with everything these people say, but I'm not going to smear them as traitors.
I also have to turn my back on my country, its judiciary, its military and the leadership in all the states and territories. All of them, red and blue alike.
That would be a reasonable request if Chinese tanks were rolling down Main Street because of something all these people did deliberately. When I'm being asked to do it because of a cobbled-together list of claims, many of which have been debunked, and none of which actually amounts to solid proof, then no, I'm not going to go there.
