McGee BTT as always. A great summation, Matt.

So this essay is really for you, Mr. Security Agent, because it won’t be elite Manhattan or Malibu liberals or Ivy League professors or politicians or columnists who will be ordered to strap on the sweat-stained body armor and enforce the new gun control laws at gunpoint. No, that grim task will fall to you.

The point is correct, but I think that this is rapidly encroaching the territory where it is the elite urban ruling class that will find themselves targeted. I do not state this to pound any drums, merely to point out that the pure demographics of the thing argue a bloodbath at an ill-considered pinprick. The Left operates by pinpricks, by pushing the envelope, expanding the borders of the permissible, and that has typified the decades-long patient push for citizen disarmament. After all, who wouldn't have agreed in 1968 that making mail-order firearms illegal was only a minor, negotiable step, and if it made Americans feel safer, only a small concession?

And so we have come to this, only this time the concessions won't be small and they will be demanded, not requested. The only answer possible should have been the answer in 1968: NO. We cannot compromise with people who are loudly, defiantly our enemies. If they send thugs we shoot the thugs first and then the senders. We need to set these rules from the outset so no one is surprised when the dead line is crossed.

And we need not to be out-shouted by the media. If we do not shout now, surely we will have to shoot later. That would be a tragedy of fantastic proportions.

Shootings Prompt New Gun Bill-CALIFORNIA

Snip:

The massacre in Newton, Conn., and other mass shootings have prompted for a call to curb gun violence.

California assembly member Nancy Skinner answered that call with a proposal to restrict ammunition sales in the state.

“2,800 people in California were killed last year by gunfire,” Skinner said. “It is easier to buy bullets than cough medicine or alcohol. It should not be that easy. We need to have much more scrutiny when it comes to the purchase of guns.”

Monday she unveiled Assembly Bill 48. It would require bullet buyers to show identification. It would also require ammunition dealers to be licensed and report all sales to the department of justice.

Emmeryville police chief Ken James supports the tighter restrictions.

”Right now you can buy bullets in any store and the sale is not recorded”, James said. “Gun violence will continue unless we control the sale of bullets.”

Gawker Posts Full List of All ‘A**hole’ New York City Licensed Gun Owners

Snip:

In the aftermath of Sandy Hook, the Journal News in upstate New York published a map with the addressees of all gun permit holders in Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam. The nation was rightly outraged at this violation of basic privacy, and the threat implicit in the publication.

Just in case that was too subtle, Gawker has now published a complete list of every licensed gun owner in New York City. The headline? “Here Is a List of All the Assholes Who Own Guns in New York City.” Writes the author, John Cook:

Below is a 446-page list of every licensed gun owner in New York City. I obtained it from the NYPD two-and-a-half years ago via a Freedom of Information Law request. Because the NYPD is more interested in raping and/oreating ladies and spying on Muslims than it is in honoring public records law, the list contains only the names, and not the addresses, of the licensees…

By the way, the other day I saw statistics comparing the numbers of murders by rifle vs. murders by carpenter tools such as hammers. The carpenter tools out-murder by a factor of about 25% every year. I’ll try to find them.
