No, there wouldn’t be, because they’ve been planning this for decades.

Question 1: If 99% of all firearm-owners obey a law to "turn them in", how many make up the remaining 1%? (You may round your aswer to the nearest million)

Question 2: What is the greatest number of active members the IRA had while keeping Northern Ireland in turmoil for decades? (Hint: it's a three-digit number)

And if the time ever came it wouldn't be anywhere near 99%, nationwide they would be extremely lucky to even get 50%. In fact, I'm guessing that in many of the really pro-gun areas of the rural south and west (where most of the guns are) they would be lucky to have even a 10% compliance rate. (Of course you will always have a percentage of mealy mouth Mr. Magoo's that will dutifully march to the ovens...)

John Mohammad and Lee Malvo paralyzed the Washington DC area with one Bushmaster. Oddly enough, they only fired one shot at a time, yet the term “assault rifle” made the headlines. Any proposed ban would leave a huge number of hunting rifles, far more accurate and/or powerful than the .223 Bushmaster, in civilian hands. Even with a total ban on firearms, I'm certain the number of unregistered or untraceable guns held in private hands would be more than enough to arm an army of snipers.

As a side note, our media, especially MSM, has gone from reporting facts and offering reasonable comment to a one sided propaganda machine, largely controlled by the government and liberals. The lessons learned in advertising are now being turned on our general population, starting with our schools. One can only hope that the internet will continue to exist and that enough of the population will be home schooled or attend private schools to preserve the principles of a free society.
