Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) introduced two reparations resolutions on the first day of the 113th Congress.
The first, H.R. 40, is to acknowledge the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery in the United States and the 13 American colonies between 1619 and 1865 and to establish a commission to examine the institution of slavery, subsequently de jure and de facto racial and economic discrimination against African-Americans, and the impact of these forces on living African-Americans, to make recommendations to the Congress on appropriate remedies, and for other purposes.
The second, H.R. 98, is to provide a remedy for survivors and descendants of the victims of the Tulsa, Oklahoma Race Riot of 1921.
Neither has been received by the GPO yet for the full text to be available.

Works for me
Hey....I want my reparations. A lot of innocent people died in those coal mines that were the engine - literally - of this country. Without coal, who knows where we'd be today.
Sure.
I’m in favor of giving everyone ever trodden on by the US Government in any capacity a one year suspension of federal taxes with no ability by the government to make up that income difference in later years.
What does Conyers think welfare is? Reparations = EBD card
This is about making some cash for those worthless degrees in African Studies Departments.
Exactly!
We did that one already......it became a huge economic success and a champion of Progressive thought. The AIDS rate is a very low 98%, cannibalism is still practiced, and for a while children could become Generals.
And, the murder rate is lower than ChitCago's
I agree.
This is how the bill should read:
The first, H.R. 40, is to acknowledge the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of Affirmative Action in the United States and the 50 American States between 1960 and 2012 and to establish a commission to examine the institution of Affirmative Action, subsequently de jure and de facto racial and economic discrimination against Americans, and the impact of these forces on living Americans, to make recommendations to the Congress on appropriate remedies, and for other purposes.
The second, H.R. 98, is to provide a remedy for survivors and descendants of the victims of the 1965 Watts riots, 1967 Detroit and Newark riots,1968 Chicago riots,1980 Miami riots,1991 Crown Heights riots,1992 Los Angeles riots 1996: St. Petersburg Riots, 2001 Cincinnati riots, 2009 Oakland riots etc .”
The only think I can think of is that stuff like this has been going on since forever. The Dutch took care of their, own, then the English, then the Irish, and so on, and screw the rest. But Tammany Hall made a fine art out of this stuff. And the guy who really got Tammany started was that b......d, Aaron Burr. When I hear the dims talk about fairness, I grin. Oh, Yes, Mr. Fairness OBama. He says We[ rich people] must be willing to pay our fair share. “ Well, he pays on his official salary, but not the 100 million that it takes to keep him and his snooty wife living the high style.
I don’t owe any former slave anything.
