Something that helped VN vets was mentor programs/networks for vets.

It was mostly Christian vets who could help them understand and manage the readjustments to civilian life, navigate through family problems, etc. and help them find a place to live (if they needed that) and a job.

The divorce thing is almost a given in today’s self centered culture. A woman has to be willing to hold her own and be considerate, true and patient while the soldier gets re-established in civilian life. In today’s crazy society, divorce is high. Which makes mentoring buddy systems even more important.
