What happened in the Senate was Romney won Missouri and Indiana easily but Mourdock and Akin shot themselves in the foot. Plus Snowe retired and Scott Brown lost in a really red state for minus 4. We should have won FL but did not have a good senate candidate. We should have won WI, why I don’t know. We should have won ND, why I don’t know.

Romney got sunk by Chris Christie, Hurricane Sandy, and by his 47% remark and with spillover help from Mourdock and Akin.

Romney also won in MT but Tester got reelected. Akin and Mourdock may have shot themselves in the foot, but the establishment candidates in ND, MT, VA, and WV underperformed Romney in those states. We need better candidates.

Romney got sunk by Chris Christie, Hurricane Sandy, by his 47% remark and targeted vote fraud.

That's it, right there.

Based on my personal experience the Akin fiasco hurt the Republicans and definitely hurt Romney. Up until that time I had a number of friends who had planned to vote R, specifically for Romney. After Akin made his statement they flat out refused.

What on earth possessed Akin to say what he did? Everybody knows the story of Genghis Khan and his millions of descedents. Obviously wishing away pregnancy after rape didn't work for all those women
