At the height in the Classic period they were probably the most advanced culture in the world. Now did they have their problems? Like all other cultures yes. I should say so! Why they believed that everyone, man, woman and child, was given the right by Kukulcan to possess a bow-and-arrow to not only hunt with but protect their home from a violently intrusive tribal Shaman!

But why on earth would they need wheels when: a) they had no beasts of burden; b) lived in places not conducive to wheel use without said beasts of burden. The joke about the guy stealing wheelbarrows every day would be totally lost on the Mayans...

Know-it-All Nadin doesn’t understand what the machine called a “wheel” is at all. Neither do any of the rest of the bunch. Unless you missed a post where somebody mentioned “torque.” Hint: It has nothing to do with wagon wheels. It has everything to do with a steering wheel.
