My thought exactly. The features that make “assault rifles” good for assaulting no doubt make them excellent defensive weapons as well.
I could easily imagine an “assault rifle” with a high capacity magazine being a homeowner’s best friend if you had to face two or three badguys for whatever reason, which isn’t a totally crazy scenario.
