I never understood this guy’s rise in the country music scene and how he hasn’t been the receipient long before now of the same kind of treatment the Dixie(Ditsy) Chicks received.
Being a dope smoking leftist isn’t exactly a good fit among alot of country music fans, atleast the overwelming number I’ve known.
Unfortunately, we live in a new age. There is a vast sea of fools and their foolishness has seeped into every crevice of our culture.
Willie's got way more talent than the Dixie Chicks ever thought about having. I'm willing to overlook more stupid political crap from the man who wrote "Crazy," "Night Life," and "Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground," than I am from the twits who gave us "Goodbye Earl."

His rise and staying power are easy to understand. He has had some great recordings. He sounds terrible live, but much of his recorded music is fantastic. That’s true in spades for his recordings as one of The Highwaymen and in duets with Waylon. In addition to that, he seems like a really nice guy who is not at all full of himself, regardless of what he smokes or what he thinks about guns.
