I am an 80 year old and have had a Kindle for almost 2 years.

If I can do it anyone can.

I also can download from my public library. (It is like a loan and disappears after 3 weeks).

Good luck !

I have a Kindle keyboard 3G with a lit book cover that attaches to the Kindle and recieves power that way. I love it for reading in bed. If I doze off, the Kindle and the light go off after 5 minutes. When I realized how large the font size could be set on the Kindle, I gave mine to my now 95 year old mother to use and bought a new one for myself. We help her with the set up, download books she might like, and all she has to do is turn pages. The Kindle without a cover is very light weight. There will be no hand cramps trying to hold a book open while trying to lie on your side in bed while you read. The screen is very easy on the eyes and can be read in bright sunlight with no problem.
CHECK OUT THE LIBRARY OPTION no matter which e-reader you choose!!!! Read for free, or at least use your tax dollars!! You might have to wait your turn for a specific book just like "real" books. My library gives me two weeks to read the book before it is "returned".
Check out video reviews on the internet. I bought my Kindle at Target and was able to get a hands on idea of what it was like. Target no longer sells the Kindle, but the Nook instead. Best Buy might have both for you to try hands on.
