Kindle & Kindle Fire here.
The Kindle is much lighter than the Fire and more comfortable for just sitting and reading if that’s your main use. I chose Kindle over Nook, just because I felt it had more popularity & therefore staying power.

The staying power is something i considered, but my relative is purchasing the NOOK. Or rather, they may be. They asked what we thought about it. I’m trying to gather info. before providing a comment.
