It’s not only the issue of where he was born, but his ideology, which appears to be far-left, communist/socialist/”progressive,” possibly also Muslim. On so many levels he doesn’t belong in the WH.
It is not so complicated pbmaltzman. Barack Obama has never, not once, claimed to be a “natural born citizen”. He has told us he was “born a subject of the British Commonwealth” because his Kenyan father was British in 1961, before Kenya attained independence. You have heard the misleading claim that “natural born citizen” was not defined in the Constitution. Why is that misleading? Because the Constitution does not contain definitions of words, terms, or phrases, specifying that they must be interpreted in the common-law and language familiar to its framers. Our framers and at least twenty five supreme court cases cited the common-law definition, Chief Justice Marshall telling us its most used source, Vattel's "Law of Nations." Marshall's clarification didn't set precedent because the case in which he clarified the term, The Venus of 1840, didn't require the definition.
Remember, Obama claimed to be, on his web site “Fight the Smears”, “A native-born citizen of the US”. That is the defintion, using the language of the 14th amendment, the “Naturalization Amendment”. Obama told us he was born on our soil, but to a non-citizen father, and was thus properly, Like Wong Kim Ark, born to two resident but not citizen parents in San Francisco, a naturalized citizen, and not a natural born citizen.
Why did no Republican say anything? Just look at the title Obama and the chairperson of his campaign committee used to the law they tried to pass in February 2008, the ‘‘Children of Military Families Natural Born Citizen Act’’, SB 2678, Obama/McCaskill. It was written to make McCain eligible, but FAILED TO PASS out of the Senate. Senators all know that only constitutional amendments can modify constitutional interpretation, and the precedent had been established in 1875 in Minor v. Happersett, born on the soil to parents who are its citizens.
