I have known only two people that were put in for the Blue Max. One a Platoon Sgt who took command of a Cav Troop and fought it after the Command was Killed or Wounded and the other was a Tanker in that Troop that broke up an attack and killed an impressive amount of the enemy.

The first was down graded to a DSC and the second to a SS, we figured that only living Officers got the Blue Max. That was 44 years ago.
