The trouble with this argument is that according to Mark Levin— evangelicals turned out in record numbers for romney. The people who didn’t show up for romney—or anyone else — were the reagan democrats. these would be predominantly nothern catholics in states like ohio and pennsylvania wisconsin etc.
It was likely just the opposite in 2008 when southern evangelicals did NOT show up for McCain and Reagan demcrats did.
A TRUE Conservative, not Romney, would have brought both groups in droves.
Romney was a liberal Republican at very best. We must do better.
