The movement has gained the attention of some in the national media, enough for stories to be done. The media is scoffing at these petitions. One ABC report mentioned a counter petition that demands signers of the succession petitions be deported.

The media is scoffing at these petitions. One ABC report mentioned a counter petition that demands signers of the succession petitions be deported. Yeah, the underlying premises of that petition is actually frightening:
- That the government can unilaterally void citizenship, and therefore make the rights and privileges thereof completely conditional.
- That the mass deportation of [former] citizens is a good thing considering:
- the first amendment was enacted specifically to protect political speech, and
- the power to do so would easily become corrupted, bow long until it would be applied to any sort of political dissent?

I’m positive that some of the “national media” in 1775 were “scoffing” too.
