Top Iowa Conservative: The Republican Civil War has already started

"He [Romney] killed us all over the country. Look at [same-sex] marriage. We've never lost the issue before, until it shared a ballot with Romney then we lost it four times on one day. Heck, we even won marriage in California on Election Day 2008 for goodness sake.

There will never be another establishment candidate like that. Jeb Bush, Chris Christie...those people will never happen. Heck, I think Christie will be driven out of the GOP and be the next Charlie Crist. Mitt just killed Republicans in my home state. People are angry, especially because Matt Drudge and Karl Rove told us it was all in the bag all along, after they got done smearing conservatives in the primary and dumping on Todd Akin.

It's on like Donkey Kong."

I don’t know what that means, he ran for Senator in Texas, as a Palin backed tea party candidate and won by a wide margin and is a future presidential contender probably.

He was not supposed to even have a chance against Dewhurst.

No, we can’t agree on that.

“because TEA party senate candidates”

Look at Romney’s turnout. He failed to get the same people who voted for John McCain to vote for him.

Had he got McCain’s turnout, all those close losses would have resulted in victory.

This is all on Romney, not the tea party.

Do you think Cruz would have won in any other state, outside of maybe Oklahoma or Alabama?

“Thanks to people like you, we lost.”

Not me. Blame those idiots who voted for Odumbo. And regardless of proof as you say, how he handled it was extremely poor. If he could not handle an easy problem, then he should not run in the first place.

Marco Rubio?

You don’t like the tea party because they have had so many successes for so long and are moving the party closer to Reagan, your man Romney was an absolute disaster for the republicans, just a nightmare.

Romney was a disaster, and he has been a loser his entire 20 years of running for office.

In 2008 he spent 150 million dollars to get beaten by two guys with no money, called McCain and Huckabee, and in 2012, Mitt got stomped by Jimmy Carter.

“So, Romney got 6M votes LESS than McLame did, in a poor economy. Are you saying McLame was a better candidate?Palin was the one who propped up McLame. If she were the candidate she wouldn’t have had a gender gap & would have sent the bass turd packing.”

Imagine if Romney had McCain’s turnout of 59 million people? He would have won easily. This is all on Romney.

According to the media, the economy was all sweetness and light, and the sheeple bought it.

Do you have any PROOF to back up your allegation?

You have no idea.

Getting elected in our second largest state works well, and he will be talked about as a possible candidate for president or veep for the next few years.

I have to agree with you, MU. Those two screwed it up for themselves, huge. Akin really blew it.

And yes, the blue states are losing all morals. They are going to suffer for their sins. As long as they stay out of my state, let em rot.

I didn’t mean it as a knock on Cruz, but more of a statement on our electorate in most states where the word “tea party” is poison.

Kev,
You make a good point, but you have to understand how much it has changed in Washington and Minn. Those places are total freak shows now.

Man, de Nile ain’t just a river in Egypt. Hey - selling yourself out to Romney didn’t work out.

Maybe you should have listened to the folks back in March who explained why Romney was gonna lose (depressing turnout). ;)

Imagine if Romney had McCain’s turnout of 59 million people? He would have won easily. This is all on Romney.
***This election was about turning out the base. Bronc0bama turned out his; Romney didn’t. What exactly was Romney’s base, since he was never a conservative? He was trying to steal independents, middle-of-the-road liberals, stupid people, etc. from 0bama. He was trying to be a big tent republican. From my home page:

___________________________________________________________________

I’m a big tent republican.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1821435/posts?page=18455
Here’s an analogy to work with. Take a small box and fill it with some rocks. Then add some rice, filling it to the top. Now take all the same stuff, but in a different order. Put in the rice first, then add the rocks. What you’ll find is that if you put in the big stuff first, the small stuff will fit around it. But if you put in the small stuff first, the big stuff won’t have room. The republican tent is the box. The Big issues are the socon issues, to be put in first. The little issues are things that can be accommodated around the bigger stuff. A candidate who tries to focus on the smaller issues first and leave out the bigger issues has no way of getting all of us into the tent. He splits the party. The candidate who gets the big stuff right and as much of the little stuff that will fit, he can fit more into the tent. We’re often amazed at how much rice can keep fitting in. Folks such as Rudy or Romney flunk some of the big issues, and on some of the little issues it looks to me like anyone else’s rice would do just as well. All that remains for us to agree on is which are the bedrock principles and which are not. Why would there be so much invective aimed at rudy or romney from the right? Because there are some bedrock principles that he is leaving out. Bad move. I see rudybot and romneybot postings all the time saying that they would vote for Hunter or Palin, and I see socon postings that say they would not vote for rudy or romney. That’s a BIG indicator of a few bedrock principles that are being left outside the tent in order to let in some rice.

“He could only win in Texas.”

I’d have to agree on that one. His win in Texas in the general was not a big deal. It is a seat that is a lock.
And his primary win had more to do with Dewhurst making all the wrong moves. Dewhurst basically gave Cruz a ton of free advertisement in quotes.

We’ll see if Cruz turns out to be the conservative he claims...or the Washington Establishment Republican he worked as at the FTC, as well as the clerk/lawyer circles up there.
