GOP Voter Apathy Cost Romney: Would have won with McCain's vote total

4. With overall voter turnout down, shockingly Romney got 2 million less votes than McCain! If Romney got as many votes as McCain, 59.6 million, he could have won.

The story of this election is voter turnout!

GOP didn't capitalize on 10 million less votes for Obama in 2012. What happened to the GOP turnout?

What happened to the GOP turnout?

Precisely what we feared when Romney was the nominee, they stayed home in droves.

I’m sorry....our candidate could have been Mickey Mouse, and any GOP voter who would not have shown up to vote for him over Obama either does not care about the country or needs to have their head examined.

Romney lost Florida by 25,000 votes.

Unimaginable.

What happened to the GOP turnout?

We peaked. Face it, we are becoming the minority.

there are a lot more votes to be counted, so need to wait until all of those are counted, but yeah, GOP turnout was down. I believe the evangelicals stayed home by about 7% according to something I heard, probably due to mormonism.

“What happened to the GOP turnout?”

I guess that “Massachusetts Moderate” thing didn’t sell.

Yeah. That is why Obama carried the Bible Belt so handily.

We tried to tell everyone when Romney was nominated that this would happen and we were shouted down. Well, it happened. So the GOPe got exactly what they wanted and they had a few months of feeling "superior" to the rest of us. Now we're stuck.

I got so sick of hearing people jump on us, we were never the probelm, we voted for the creep, but the rest of the country that doesn't live and die politics were sickened by him. Rove and his co-horts need to be run out of town on a rail and we all need to stop watching FOXNews.

As per a June 21st UPI poll, ten percent of Republicans indicated they would not vote for a Mormon. Romney only lost by 1% of the vote. Do the math.

Did you realize that Obama, not just Romney, got fewer votes than McCain in 2008?

So who stayed home?

Let's look at this rationally. The Democrats went down 10 mil. They do that again, the Republican need only achieve what McCain achieved and they have a landslide on their hands!

I'd suggest Sarah Palin might turn cartwheels.

Sadly, it looks like a lot of Republicans are now sitting home with Obama as their prez for the next four years, but at least their “spotless” voting record is intact. Better to sit home than vote for a less-than-perfect candidate doncha know. They sure showed us. They taught us a lesson, didn’t they. Yeah, well get ready, they’re going to be taught a lesson as well.

All day long, I heard (and saw personally once) about the massive turnout in Ohio’s suburbs.

It doesn’t make sense.

I wonder if my vote was even counted?

Can’t wait until Iran rolls out that first nuke, America’s credit rating hits C-, and the first EBT cards start to show a zero balance.

She should have run then. It is her fault that she did not run for President not anyone else’s.

That’s what happens when you have 2 candidates that lots of people do not want to be president.

For all of you who stayed at home, for whatever reason, are you happy with the result? Do you think McCain was a better candidate than Romney? Was McCain more “principled”? Did he have a better resume? Did you stay home because Romney wasn’t “conservative” enough? Do you think Romney is “less Conservative” than McCain? Did you stay home because Gov. Romney is a Mormon? Whatever the reason, WE ALL HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT! Simply, you turned down an opportunity to vote for a good man, with principles and a solid grasp of the economy. A “leader” with the working knowledge of how to delegate authority. Was Gov. Romney my first choice? Far from it, but for those who stayed home.....YOU BLEW IT! THE CHOICE WAS CLEAR! IT MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN THE CHOICE YOU WANTED TO MAKE, BUT BY NOT PARTICIPATING. YOU LET THE COUNTRY DOWN.
