“The nation is on the precipace of ruin.”
I hate to be a spelling Nazi but shouldn’t that be “prepuce”?
Precipice
However, the problem with the "Spelling Nazis" is that we all make spelling errors - and if that is the main retort then this place devolves into the Mean Girls 8th grade cafeteria lunch table. It becomes pointless. "You made a spelling error!".......... "Oh yeah! Well YOU made one too!"
To the point at hand, I am not the first Freeper to strongly disagree with Semmens' posts. You all can look up his threads and see that other Freepers have in the past wondered aloud why these posts are permitted sandwiched right in between all the other serious news that is published here?
I will share with you all that I have engaged in private messages with Semmens where I urged him to tone down the FR equivalent of bait and switch. I won't betray private message chapter and verse here, as it is inappropriate to do so.
However, I will share the gist of my complaint to him. I enjoy satire as much as the next person. The posts by Iowahawk are a FR classic (and are incredibly hilarious). But, any reader sifting between posts obviously sees (right away) that they are witty satire. Semmens appears to enjoy "reeling people in."
There is a Biblical prohibition to this kind of behavior. That, I will quote here:
"Like a madman shooting firebrands or deadly arrows is a man who deceives his neighbor and says, I was only joking!
Proverbs 26: 18-19
Semmens reminds me of the guy who pulls fast ones on people, and when the reaction is negative, that guy exclaims: "Hey!!! I was only pullin' yur chain!"
Furthermore, with this post, he makes light of what is now the front page on Drudge, and all over the country. Obama's unscripted line about taking "revenge" on Romney.
The UK Mail has this to say about this very serious subject:
So here we are, on the eve of a nail biting and crucial election, and once again sandwiched in between the news posts is the "I was just pullin' yur chain!" post by Semmens.
I know most of you don't share my sentiment. That's what the forum is for - you have your opinions and you share them. So do I.
If my language seemed strident, then I do apologize for that. But, I am not the one making these posts that appear like minefields to be surveyed while sifting through the news posts.
If I ran this place (and we all know I don't), I would install a FR filter that automatically moves posts like Semmens' to chat or some other category.
"Thems" my views.
