Think about it ~ in a time when most Africans didn't have roads, had never seen a horse, thought wagons strange, and few had even seen a picture of an automobile, this guy got drunk, drove recklessly, and managed to kill himself ~ in Africa. Couldn't be more than a few hundred folks in all of black Africa at the time who'd succeeded in that trick.
