Truman became President following the death of FDR. He was then elected to a term as President on his own (remember Dewey beats Truman).

Lyndon Johnson became President following the assassination of JFK. He was then elected to a term as President on his own.

Both Truman and Johnson could have run for a second full term on their own but declined to do so. Clinton was the only Democrat President elected to two terms since FDR.
