If Chrisie can beat Corzine in NJ three years ago and is pretty well liked, why can’t Romney beat Obama now? How have things changed in favor of ‘Rat candidates since ‘09? Wouldn’t Romney capture just about all the Christie voters if they’re still around?

There is a bit of a difference. Unlike with Zero, Corzine did not have a cult of personality surrounding him.

Thank you for the question, and I know that you ask it sincerely. Please forgive me, in that I could only reply to the ping up to the Freeper "Clintonfatigued" and not beyond that as I could not see the addresses. Perhaps you could forward my reply.

First, a bit about New Jersey politics of late. Up until a few years ago, a very dear friend of mine (African-American male) was very high up in NJ politics. In fact. we were very, very close friends. He worked for both the Gov McGreevey and Gov Corzine administrations - up close.

The first collapse of NJ support for both of these governors came from a revolt from the general population because of property taxes.

The second revolt came in the financial sense from American Jews. The betrayal was multi-facited: from taxes to support of Israel. Sadly, the former was sometimes a greater motivation than the latter, but that is reality. BOTH of them, however, had a major impact.

A third aspect, (which the dirty pols in NJ have NEVER been able to figure out) was a broken promise that the NJ sales tax under Corzine would increase temporarily, and THEN we could get relief from a 130% property tax increase in only 8 years. No one has ever addressed that broken promise (even Chris), and the voters are still angry about it.

I am former military. I have flown aircraft all over the world, and I have lived in many countries.

New Jersey is sort of like a Balkanized Midwestern state. You have rich liberals dictating politics to poor blacks and Hispanics who don't want their dictates, and lower, middle, and upper class whites divided about 50/50 with Catholics leaning Democrat and a small, but influential Evangelical Protestant population leading the way towards Reagan Conservatism.

Even still, this state is beautiful. There are miracles going on here God is looking after His own.

Perhaps NJ will turn for Romney. I pray it will be so.
