Tonight was the annual Alfred E. Smith Dinner where the candidates take a humorous break from the campaign trail. But I gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised at how funny Romney was as he delivered line after line, mostly about the president. In fact he landed some pretty hard blows on the president, namely one where in using the Sesame Street reference he said that President Obamas remarks are brought to you by the letter O and the number 16 Trillion. Ouch! And theres a lot more where that came from.
My bet is that even though it was all in good fun, the left is going to hate it and will try and make something out of it. Maybe theyll put all the jokes the didnt like in a binder or something.

Romney had good practice. St. Patricks Day breakfasts here in MA. That kind of things is done among the pols there. He was ready.
I just had the awesomest idea ever: Dennis Miller, Press Secretary.
I hated to see it end...
Go RR!!!!!
Romney “ we both have one person who is always in our corner, someone who we can lean on, someone who is a comforting presents without who we could not go on another day, I have my wife Ann, and Obama has Bill Clinton “
That is a MUST SEE!
I was in stitches! And his delivery was absolutely top notch.
And he ended it with real class.
Where was her Moochness tonight? HMMM??
This was absolutely fantastic. It was great to see Obama being mocked so effectively. Even liberals were laughing. Obama and Axelrod think they have some sort of monopoly on creating “narratives” and belittling the opposition. To see Romney take it right to them — right in their faces — and on a day where the polls have turned decisively against O — Wow! I think O knows it’s a lost cause at this point.
“Mitt went first”
and was a helluva hard act to follow. I was frankly very surprised at how smooth and richly funny he was. Beforehand, I thought neither Romney nor Obama would be really funny, just read a few funny lines. Romney really surprised.
My favorite was:
....brought to you be the letter O, and the number 16 Trillion.
You’re dead on!
Keeper!
That was a great line. Was really a must see home run performance for Mitt. Great job!
I’m sure Dennis Miller and staff provided some material.
My thoughts exactly.....Where was the "Queen"
Chris Matthews not laughing. It's unconstitutional to disrespect the President. Or has been since 2009....
I suspect Dennis Miller had a role in this speech. Brilliant!
Outstanding speech by Mitt and he delivered it with presidential dignity. A grand slam.
Both were funny. First time I also enjoyed Obama speaking and seen him also offer a good gesture at the end. Fun event.
Loved it. He not only got some sharp jabs in on Obama, but also on the media.
Talk about a surgical strike. Mitt took my breath away. It was an OMG! moment.
