Before leaving the ‘hood’ they might better check the gun and ammo purchased over the past four years.

In Texas if you cross my fence line with intent to do harm to me or mine you are a target... and you won’t be the first...

I understand that an armed person in Texas is also expected to protect an unarmed neighbor. Am I correct?

There is no requirement or law that I know of. However, if I correctly remember, there are laws that give you the right to stop any felony crime in process by any means necessary. You also have the right to stop any assault on another person or even animal cruelty.
