To be fair to Joe Pyne there was a lot of that good ol' overwhelming nastiness in Pyne -- "Go gargle with razor blades!".. but I have never heard Savage or Levin speak of Pyne.

Pyne was a quasi-mentor to teh great Bob Grant. Levin, for one, took Grnat's "get off the phone" phrase and made it his own.

Grant was the one who got me started on talk radio, back when he was at WMCA.

RE: Pyne was a quasi-mentor to the great Bob Grant.

Yes I remember Grant telling how protests against Pyne caused WOR(?) to immediately stop carrying Pyne's national show and Grant had to fill in at the station that very day.

I recall those days though I did not know of Pyne until I saw his TV show. Pyne was a critic of JFK. When JFK was assassinated the liberals -- including JFK friend James "Scotty" Reston of the NY Times -- accused the emerging modern conservative movement of causing Oswald to assassinate Kennedy and of crimes of hate and violence in general.

Pyne was just one of the victims of the liberals' lies.
