What kind of wheat do you buy? How long can you store it in its whole state? How do you mill it?

I want to make some.

We buy “Wheat Montana” red and white. Some Walmarts even carry it, in 25# bags. It’s about 14 bucks.

Some sources sell it in sealed five gallon buckets, which keep well for a long time.

You have to store it airtight or the weevils will get it pretty quick.

There are a lot of different mills out there, some good, some not so good. You tend to get what you pay for. Its’ worth a few extra bucks to get a good one, in my opinion.

We’ve tried several mills, but the best one we’ve got is about thirty years old. “Miracle” brand I think it is. It’s got stone wheels. There are some modern mills like the “NutriMill” which explode the berries somehow. I’m not so sure that’s a good thing. I like the stones.

But anything would be better than using that dead junk they call “flour” from the stores.
