First off, we must remember that the old testament is a Hebrew (Jewish) book and most of it is concerned with the Jewish people. Therefore it must be interpreted in light of the Jews during it’s inital writing.
The phrase ‘nor the desire of women’, has been held by some biblical scholars to represent Christ or the Messiah which for most jewish women the desire of their heart to be the mother of the Messiah.
