I would suggest for the thread another Elliot quote. One that contained the phrase “redeeming the time” that Elliot uses and is traced to biblical roots as well. It is an Elliot quote that Russell Kirk loved to use to inspire. From “Christianity and Culture”:
“The world is trying the experiment of attempting to form a civilized but non-Christian mentality. The experiment will fail; but we must be very patient in awaiting its collapse; meanwhile redeeming the time; so that the Faith may be preserved alive through the dark ages before us; to renew and rebuild civilization, and to save the world from suicide.”
Reminds me of that movie called “The book of Eli” starting Danzel Washington....very interesting must see movie!
