” Perhaps these folks view themselves as so intellectually and morally superior to the rest of us”

Bingo! We have a winner!

I bet that they never mention Lincoln was a Republican!

I'll agree with the author that Lincoln is one of those figures in U.S. history where it is almost impossible to find an unbiased presentation on film. Some people believe he was pure as the driven snow while others, like the author, believe he is the devil incarnate. In fact he was neither. I don't expect Spielberg's movie to change that.

But I admit that I found it amusing that his view of the perfect Civil War movie, Gods and Generals, was a movie that was very loosely based on a work of fiction.

I don’t intend to see it, because I am tired of Spielberg’s socialism.

The southern plutocrats launched a war they couldn’t hope to win and their generals compounded that stupidity by engaging a numerically superior opponent all the while having no navy to speak of. One of the Norths first moves was to blockade Southern ports. From then on the South was just running the clock out.

One out of ten Southerners who fought in the Civil War loved ‘Old Glory’ and fought for the Union...something the neo-reb revisionists would be well advised to remember.
