It would take a far higher IQ to be a good engineer.

If those SAT scores are accurate, I would guess that those scores reflect ability, not inherent IQ. The US, despite spending more per student than many countries put together, has some of the poorest scores in the Western Hemisphere, to which low score are going to reflect a poor education, not a low IQ.

Yup, I’d hate to work with a bunch of engineers with an IQ as low as this chart claims.

Smartest people I knew in college were Philosophy majors. They were even smart enough to know that the degree would be worth squat in the job market.

They are intended major, not graduating class. Not all engineers are good engineers, but I are won, and I agree, engineers, as a group, are at least one standard deviation (15 IQ points) above the norm, or 115. imho. Doctors only average 130 IQ, and lots of engineers have higher IQs than that.
