I lived in that area and let me tell you how this will play out. If the owner and his attorney are successful in grandfathering their section 8 Mcmansion, the association will pass restrictions specifically designed to rack up fines against this owner (I.e., renters have no right to amenities, may only use association roadways to enter and exit the rented premises, etc.). Once the fines pile up because the 9 kids used the pool, basketball courts or rode their bikes on association streets, they will foreclose on this owner and viola, section 8 grandfathered McMansion problem disappears.

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I wouldn’t want my million dollar property to decline in value because of one owner, would you?
