Obama was right, the recession ended in 2009. But not the way he likes to brag about.
It is a depression and has been a depression since about 2010. Smoke and mirrors, makeshift “repairs” to the economy, mostly by pumping up the money supply, and using creative mathematics to hide the REAL unemployment rate, is a classic “kick the can down the road” strategy. Eventually you run out of road, or the can goes so far out into the weeds the game is effectively ended.
Maybe people don’t like the “over the cliff” analogy, but do they understand four blown-out tires and a burst radiator hose? Over the cliff would be a mercy, because there is the long walk back home, and a lot of folks are just not up to it.
The real estate that makes up the continent of North America will still be here. But the concept of “United States of America” just might not be.
Agree that it is a depression, but they have masked the effects by all the overtime with the printing presses and the false bolstering of the stock market. They have retarded the pain and set us up for some real agony when it finally blows up. I believe it’s a purposeful act - if a Republican gets in, the pain will be blamed on him. If Obama stays in, the martial repression will kick in. Either way, the Left reaps its rewards.
