I feel like I ought to start out each of my articles anymore with a disclaimer, or caveat saying something along the lines of “WARNING: The contents of this article are to be considered null and void in the event of a “Reichstag Fire,” false flag event, and/or an invasion by Russian Spetsnaz in collusion with Northcom,“or words to that effect.
My intent is not to make light of such concerns, as God knows we have reason enough to be more than a bit edgy these days—what with the Patriot Act, NDAA, the torrent of Obama EOs (Executive Orders), various government agencies stockpiling millions of rounds of ammo, and other such things.
Personally, I am what you might call a cynical optimist—I hope for the best, but plan for the worst. I keep myself open to the idea that the US can peacefully pull itself out of the colossal mess that it is currently mired in—but I have enough guns, ammo, freeze dried food and whatnot to open a small survivalist store.
Be that as it may—the main topic that I wish to address in this article is my decision to back the Romney/Ryan ticket, and the fallout from that. Contrary to what some of you may think, I have not rushed off and enlisted in the “Dark Side.” I am as opposed to the Big Bank/ Big Corporation/Big Government/Big War cabal as ever...

You are an idiot. You have two choices. One is an avowed damn Communist (0bama) who has a track record of tearing down this Nation. Your other choice is Mitt Romney who does NOT have such a record of trying to destroy this Nation, and if you and your ilk are too stupid to understand the difference between someone like 0bama who clearly hates America and is doing his best to finish us off, and Romney whose goals and agenda is NOT to wreck what’s left of our economy, then you shouldn’t be permitted anywhere near a polling booth in the first place.

If Obama puts 2 more leftists on the Supreme Court, even if one is Ginsberg, that’s a 5-4 leftist majority, and Roe v Wade is locked in for another generation.

I worked for Ameriquest for about six months in West Des Moines. Worst company I ever even knew about, much less worked for, but, to my knowledge, they were legally incoporated and all that. It was, and is, legal for people who work for corporations in the United States to make campaign contributions to the candidate and party of their choice, right? What are you trying to accuse the people in your graph of? Come on, spit it out!

One of the eye-opening things about this whole campaign season has been just how much it has served to separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak.
Who would have thought a mere six months ago that "conservatives" would go from trying to outdo each other to show who had the strongest and strictest principles to outdoing each other in who can ditch those principles the fastest on the altar of "pragmatism," while condeming those who still hold to their principles.
Who would have thought that "conservatives" would adopt the same view towards Romney that those on the Left took towards Obama four years ago?
But you're right, Rita - instead of repenting, too many conservatives are simply making an idol of our government, and their hopes to control it by getting "their" guy (who isn't even really that) into office. Instead of admitting that maybe the problems of our nation aren't fixable by government and politicians, but are spiritual issues that transcend any mere personality or party, "conservatives" are adopting the same sort of "we need government to fix everything" mentality that lefties have. So much for "less government is better government." Now it's, "we need OUR guy in office so he can save Medicare and fix all our problems."
In short, conservatives are looking for the same sort of "benefactor," the same sort of "saviour," that was seen in the Hellenistic world (when these kings actually CALLED themselves "saviours" - soterios), to take care of them, just by doing for them the things THEY want, instead of the things the Left wants. Jesus warned against relying on these false saviours instead of the true Saviour.
Mitt Romney isn't going to fix the problems of this nation. Even if he were inclined to (which I don't believe he really is), he would be unable to, because he is not even the right TYPE of remedy for the TYPE of problem that really is at the root of all the things we see, from abortion to the federal debt.
This is why I'm increasingly taking to calling myself a "liberty lover," rather than a conservative. It's because a lot, perhaps most, conservatives these days no longer love liberty, and therefore don't qualify for the term.

A state judge can do no more about abortion than the president. There are more important things going wrong in America. Especially things that the president can do nothing about.
