Allegedly an MIT student (expelled for truancy issues), Mike said that he quit within a few months “with just enough to get out” and gave $50,000 to charitable causes. Since then, he says, he’s “barely had a dollar” in his pocket.

Where did he get the $50,000 in the first place. This boy is certainly no brain surgeon. Might just be a lying sack of pooop though.

That was his government provided student “loan” that, like many mortgages a couple of years ago, never had a chance at being repaid.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility that a parent, or grandparent might have been willing to spend that much had he stayed in school. He would have "given it up" when he flunked out. A little self serving exaggeration would turn that into "gave it to charity".
