Denying that law abiding citizens have a right to carry a sidearm to defend themselves, an anti gun rights organization has published what has to be the most disingenuous post ever to appear on an anti gun website.
The group said last week that, Carrying a gun does not provide ANY realistic possibility of self defensethe element of surprise ALWAYS defeats the gun carrier. They call that Gun fact #1.
The author of the opinion further states that, an armed criminal will not approach you and challenge you to "Draw." They say that the thug will have the "Drop" on you before you know they are there. They claim that you will make no moves with a concealed weapon to defend yourself as they rob you of your money and take your gun. No, they don't say, Draw. It's generally, Give me your money, your car, your wallet, or if its a business, Give me whats in the till.
There is no question what the assailant will do with his gun. The only question is what you will do with yours. However, that is a very personal decision made based on the facts of the situation at hand.
There are numerous daily situations across the USA where an armed would be victim draws his sidearm and scares off, wounds, or kills his or her assailant, thereby protecting himself, or others, or both.
But, this fringe group would deny you your self defense rights if your life is in imminent danger.
If that writer did just did some research before spouting off, and even perhaps Googled a term such as Armed citizen shoots robber, he would have found such headlines as these among 1,490,000 results with just that one search term on the first page:
Armed Citizen shoots two hapless robbers...

The hole is so you can pull out your "wallet" and pull the trigger. Without that, it's just another pocket holster.
I hear you on the caution issue, but from personal experience, the trigger pull on the Ruger LCP is sufficiently heavy that it's not going to go off unless you want it to.
You and I both know that, AB. Awwww, but that clip’s just TV funnin’ around.
So much for the so-called uselessness of going armed. There are more defensive-use-with-gun scenarios on Earth than your anti-gun philosophy has dreamed of, Horatio.
Tell that to Travan “Skittles” Martin.
And it is funny. Even though you know Denny Crane isn't going to let himself get robbed, it's fun watching how he does it. (Also, the producers probably didn't want their character killing anyone.)
I’ve seen it a hundred times and still get an audible chuckle each time I see it. Centermass & headshots would be too messy for a humor clip. Denny Crane & Jerry would each need a poncho and goggles. LOL.
As more people carry concealed the bad guys need to be more selective when choosing their criminal environment. Too many people to try an keep an eye on. Then again, crooks are kinda dumb so it just may lead to a faster thinning of the herd.
It worked for George Zimmerman.
I’m a retired AB Ranger and have carried on a CCW since the day I got out. All told I’ve been carrying a firearm for over 40 years.
This is crap. Situational awareness takes the surprise away from the bad guys and having a pistol tucked away and being able to use it puts that surprise back on your side.
I have been robbed, well they tried. It did not work out as they had planned and you should have seen the look of surprise on their faces when they figured it out.
I trust me to take care of me, financially and physically. I expect the same of everyone else.
Love! It!
There’s something to be said for having situational awareness. Sometimes you may get surprised, but you can improve your chances greatly by knowing who is around you and noting facial and body language. Having your weapon ready to shoot (vs. needing to chamber a round first) is also a plus. I’m in a “mandatory evacuation” area for Isaac, but I know that the biggest danger to me is the surge and it will be about 18’ lower than what it takes to reach me. I opted to stay instead of leaving my property vulnerable to potential looters. My wife and I have discussed being ready and how to back each other up if the worst happens - another key factor in the being prepared column. Multiple weapons stashed for easy access no matter where we are and all ready to “speak” by squeezing the trigger.
Looks like a P-3AT
Except the holster is a NFA Class III AOW, requiring federal registration and a $200 transfer tax. Failure to garners a $250,000 fine and 10 years prison.
Not kidding.
Actually it's not true. Even after being shot in a suprise attack their are numerous occasions where the suprised victim has survived and killed their attacker.
Doesn’t matter if carrying a gun gives an advantage or not. It is a civil right to carry a gun, period. No other argument is necessary.
I believe the traditional Yoruba spelling is “Trayvon.”
This group makes A BUNCH of broad assumptions, one of which is that all gun crime occurs in the same way. The simple fact is, if you’re caught unaware, by yourself, then having a gun MAY NOT be useful. But under many circumstances, that simply isn’t the case, and history proves this out.
Their assumption is like saying that since some people die in auto accidents, they shouldn’t bother with seat belts. Since some homes burn down, people shouldn’t bother with fire extinguishers.
The simple fact is that handguns have served many people to defend their lives, and the lives of others. I cringe at the thought of how many lives could have been saved, say had one armed person been on the LIRR train where Colin Fergeson killed all those people (the tragedy that launched the career of Carolyn McCarthy), or any other mass murder location.

Yeah, you're right. Just found that out myself.
