If it weren’t so tragic and there weren’t so much at stake, the tiptoe strategy of the Romney Tepid Team would actually be funny to watch. Here you have a group of archetypal RINOs who were clever and tough enough to figure out how to destroy the relatively weak Republican primary field while Romney patiently waited his turn — next in line behind John McMush — to be anointed by the Republican establishment.
Since the Republican debates ended, however, Romney has been so weak-kneed that he’s barely been able to keep pace with a president whom everyone but the most naïve among us now realizes is a dedicated Marxist. Romney and his Tepid Team apparently feel confident that he can quietly slip through the clogged media filters all the way to Tampa, get the official nomination, then squeak out a win in November without making a wave in the process.
But it may not be quite that easy for Romney, because he still has to figure out how to deal with those pesky P & P problems: Sarah Palin and Ron Paul. You can just feel the fear emanating from the Romney control-and-command center at the thought of these two highly principled liberty lovers roaming around loose.

As much as I hated voting for MeCain and loved Palin, now I have to do the same this year with Romney, Paul.
I respect JimRob and those like him that can't vote Romney even with Paul on the ticket.

I have seen this team before. I was GOP County Chairman in county in NM when the loyal Mormon Republican vote ran over the rest of the party to get one of their own nominated for governor. TRAIN WHISTLE RAILROADED. After he was defeated in the general election they were not heard from again. It was only important when one of them was running.
For the record, I have never voted for other than a Republican for National office in my life. (soon be 65)

Have been a delegate to the State Convention several times.
If the GOP cannot be effectively cleaned up at the National level, it will cease to exist. Become extinct. Everyone knows it is internally broken.
It is not run by open Commies like the Dems, but it is none the less broken.

Ron Paul was offered a chance to address the convention. But with 2 preconditions.
1. Romney must vet the speech before he gives it.
2. Paul must openly endorse Romney for President.
Paul declined.

This has been a foregone conclusion of the Conservative Right for quite some time now. However it has taken longer than it should have because there were (and many still are) still quite a few on the Right, not necessarily the CC Right who have been choosing to live a fantasy that they could go against the liberal think tide and thus turn the party back from its hard turn to the left in recent years.
The sooner these recalcitrant conservatives come to grips with political reality the sooner the realization that a more Conservative party can start being formed, IMHO. There have been changes within the Republican Party for sure. It has become ever more liberal while the country in general is more conservative and hunger for conservative leadership. The Republican Party and the Democrat Party are more alike these days than they are different.

That’s the problem. He’s a Libertarian, not a conservative.
Libertarians don’t have principals, they are at war with conservatism, that is why their party is so hard left.
Republican Governor, Sarah Palin, will endorse Mitt Romney because she is a national republican leader and party member and was on the last republican presidential ticket.
As a shady congressman from a safe district, who is now retiring, Paul will do whatever keeps the money rolling in, from his small collection of cultish oddballs and worshipers.

In 1980 the national press smeared Ronald and Nancy Reagan endlessly. His poll numbers were in the toilet even as late as October, 1980.
RR won the Presidency nevertheless, because he was a great communicator.
It takes great courage to go after what we really want.
I believe there were only two people capable of changing Washington, D.C., and the way it presently malfunctions: Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin. Their polls numbers weren’t adequate, but then neither were Romney’s.
It is Newt’s and Sarah’s ability to get their message through to fellow citizens that had to be blocked, and Romney paid big bucks to buy his way into this candidacy by shutting those two down.
A truly capable politician would enfold Sarah and Newt into their campaign, making their messages his message, too. Only a stupid, vain man would resist the urgent counsels of advisers telling him to do so. Guess which one Romney is?
No, I am no BHO2 supporter and I will vote for the Republican Party’s nominee this November, even if it is Romney. Then, I’ll work my ass off to help found another political party based on conservative principles.
Well, I am a conservative who has a libertarian leaning.
Not Big “L” Libertarian, but little “l” libertarian.
I flirted with that stuff in the 1970’s but was left cold with the druggies and other types that were there. Always voted and registered Republican, still do.
If there was a viable Conservative or Tea Party leaning group, I would switch. Many others share my frustration.
The nation and We the People deserve better.
The Texas GOP is not that bad. Our chairman is a great unifier. Yes, there have been games played. But the grass roots certainly have a strong position.
Ouch! Nope, not me. I really do not want a 3rd Party. This is the RNC's and Romney's to make or break. If they don't listen to the grass roots, it will play out.
