If it werent so tragic and there werent so much at stake, the tiptoe strategy of the Romney Tepid Team would actually be funny to watch. Here you have a group of archetypal RINOs who were clever and tough enough to figure out how to destroy the relatively weak Republican primary field while Romney patiently waited his turn next in line behind John McMush to be anointed by the Republican establishment.
Since the Republican debates ended, however, Romney has been so weak-kneed that hes barely been able to keep pace with a president whom everyone but the most naïve among us now realizes is a dedicated Marxist. Romney and his Tepid Team apparently feel confident that he can quietly slip through the clogged media filters all the way to Tampa, get the official nomination, then squeak out a win in November without making a wave in the process.
But it may not be quite that easy for Romney, because he still has to figure out how to deal with those pesky P & P problems: Sarah Palin and Ron Paul. You can just feel the fear emanating from the Romney control-and-command center at the thought of these two highly principled liberty lovers roaming around loose.

I am not a Ron Paul supporter, nor have I ever been a Romney supporter.
What a mess.
If the reports of backroom activities withing the RNC are true, after this election there will be a viable 3rd Party. Not from one of the existing Parties.
Maybe the RNC could arrange for Paul to speak to the OWS supporters outside.
Paul is NUTS!
Yes, Ron Paul supporters are a varied lot.
I have never been one, but he is Exactly Right about a number of topics. I listened to his speech at the TX GOP Convention in Ft. Worth
The RNC has a long history of terrible leadership. The current collection is worse than normal.
Pure RINO’s.
On some subjects, you are absolutely correct.
I do not feel the same way about Palin. Have supported her from the beginning.
It is my observation that Ron Paul is just stupid enough not to realize that he is not wanted around, and just slick enough to loiter about in a vain attempt to spoil the party. I suspect his report card in school certainly indicated “does not play well with others”.
I'm not convinced a third party is going to viable but if thats what it takes to shake up the Grand Old Party and shake out the nest of RINOs that sit at the controls, it would worth the attempt.
Like many conservatives, I find myself hating having to defend as well as vote for a RINO because the Republican hierarchy manipulated the primaries and pushed Romney to the front. Because Romney is our only real chance to defeat Obama, I'll vote for him but I'm not thrilled about it. Not to mention being sick of chest-thumping 'more-conservative-than-thou' posters castigating anyone that faced reality some time ago, put our egos aside and realized that Romney was the only thing standing between us and Barack Obama - and the complete destruction of America.
his worst nightmare are principled conservatives and libertarians.
RNC 2012: Ideals trash cans at every door.
What a mess? I don’t care if a carpet beetle is the Republican candidate. This is our only chance to rid ourselves of Obama. Vote Romney and you vote out Obama. Complaining that Romney isn’t Superman is a waste of time and precious opportunity to unseat O.
author of article = very sore loser
Yep, they do that. I saw it at the TX GOP Convention. Many young people support him. Have never figured that out.
Agreed on all points.
My observations on this is just a statement of how messed up the RNC handling has been. The candidate selection process is terminally broken. It must be fixed or the GOP dies.
give Romney a shot ~Governor Sarah Palin

I read the author of the article in the 1970’s and like him. This is not about Romney vs anyone. Ringer was/is a libertarian.
Romney’s worst nightmare is going to be if that hurricaine continues tracking westward into New Orleans and the news cycle switches focus away from the RNC and to the disasters awaiting New Orleans and what our “heroic president” will do to save the day!
I would suggest that the Republican Party gets rid of its Israel 2 state solution position in its platform or else God may just present the Republican party with its own split party status or even our nation with an American multination solution.
ABO
I will vote for Romney, BUT he was a very poor choice.
The Candidate selection process within the GOP is TERMINALLY BROKEN!
nope. when the RINO’s give a conservatve a shot, then maybe I’d think about it
As in 2005 with Katrina, the brunt of the storm looks to be headed for Biloxi, not New Orleans. The press used NOLA as a club to beat President Bush about the head & shoulders with charges of racism, but it was the Mississippi Gulf Coast that actually took the hit. I was there.
GeronL:
Do you think Mitt Romney hates this country? Barack Obama does! Do you think Mitt Romney detests capitalism, the same capitalism that earned him $300 Million or more? Barack Obama does! Do you believe that Mitt Romney would stop Israel from defending itself or stand aside while Israel is destroyed? Barack Hussein Obama would! Do you think that Mitt Romney would raise taxes and impose more red tape and restrictions on job creators, thus stalling the economy? Barack Obama already has. Do you feel that Mitt Romney wants to destroy the oil, coal and gas industries in the USA, thus putting us in the thrall of Islamic potentates who wish us to become Muslims? Barack Hussein Obama is well on the way to doing so. I could go on for hours. Ive never had any love for Governor Romney, but when the choice comes down to either him or Barack Hussein Obama, a man dead-set on destroying my country, the country of my birth and whose uniform I proudly wore, there is no contest. And that is the choice. No third party or write-in candidate is going to be sworn in next January. As a disabled veteran, I humbly request that you prayerfully consider your position vis a vis the coming election and do what reason and faith tells you is the right thing for the United States of America. Thank you.
