the Dispatch agreed with Romneys assessment of the welfare changes, saying: if you want to get more people to work, you dont loosen the requirements you tighten them.

Has the Washington Post ever, EVER had a blog about why the democrats are lying when they say that republicans want to end Medicare and Social Security, and want dirty air and water, etc??
Finding a copy of the actual memo appears to be elusive...

If Romney said that, he is ignorant. We had to abolish strict standards years ago in our county. With an official unemployment rate of 18.5% (unofficial local rate of upwards of 27% in many areas,) we realized that there just weren’t enough jobs for which welfare people would be qualified. In addition, many have mental illness which prevents them from keeping a job. In other cases, it is cultural.
We had one kid we hired for the Human Services dept. He came to work, was told to go home for lunch and failed to return. He had no clue he was supposed to return. He had no clue how to dress, basic hygiene, how to behave with other people, how to establish goals. It was a total retraining program of him personally before he was even ready to start learning job duties.
In addition to tightening up welfare, taxes and regulations need to be loosened to create jobs. That is what made welfare reform work in 94. The former doesn’t put people to work without the latter creating work for them. But that isn’t how Obama and his crowd think. They believe government, not the private sector, is the force driving the economy. They believe government can be a better employer and producer, a better creator of wealth. In Obama’s world view, government needs to be omnipotent and omnipresent, ascending above the throne of God, and that takes every dime everyone of us can make, both to feed the beast, and to buy off the useless eaters until they can be eliminated.
The point is we don’t respond enough to these heavily linked blogs in the comments section. Blogs like these are tweeted and retweeted to the college-age population— the group that says they will vote for Obama because they’ve been convinced that Romney is a liar. The group that is too young to remember Obama’s lies from 2008.(They were 14 and 15 and much more concerned with finding an acne medicine that works back then.)
Those with mental illnesses are usually shifted off welfare and onto Social Security.
