For some reason, a few people who visit this site have a problem with bloggers, despite the fact that Free Republic has a “bloggers and personal" section. As I explained to Joan Varga, I am a great admirer of Gerard Vander Leun and always give him credit with a link or a mention when I use any of his material. I linked to his site in several of my posts today because he not only writes a great essay, but he provides links and posts videos and pictures from other sites. It's what bloggers do.

I blog for my own small audience and if I think there is something that Freepers may enjoy, I come here and post it. If you don't think what I post is worthwhile you should skip mine because I usually link to my blog. That's why I post under "bloggers and personal." If you get your jollies by de-blogging you must be a very lonely person. But it doesn't bother me go go right ahead.

By the way, I did a little sleuthing and found out that this video was posted on YouTube on May 13, 2011, so much as I admire Gerard, he got it from someone else.

What FReepers object to is blog-pimping: posting only an excerpt of one's own blog post, or any blog post whose owner doesn't require excerpting, with the suspected intention of boosting that blog's hit count.

What's with the personal attack? When I deblogged the YouTube video I didn't hassle you.

Let me get this straight: as a blogger you've hijacked somebody else's YouTube content and now you're upset that someone has linked to a video that's not yours? That's not your video on YouTube so why should you care if I directly link to it?
